Patriot Travel Series and Visitors Care, both top-rated travel medical insurance products for international travelers and USA visitors, have been were updated by the the plan administrator – International Medical Group (IMG) – to include COVID-19 coverage due to the global pandemic. These changes are effective May 5th, 2021 and impact the below IMG insurance plans:
These short-term travel medical products benefits have wording changes to this effect as detailed below.
The Patriot International, Patriot Platinum International and Visitors Care plans are updated to include coverage for COVID-19 or Coronavirus. Changes are effective May 5th, 2021.
Patriot America Plus and Patriot Platinum America plans already include coverage for COVID-19 prior to this update. With this update, the Patriot International, Patriot Platinum International, and Visitors Care plans have now been modified to accommodate the Pandemic and Epidemic language in the certificate document to include coverage for COVID-19 sickness/illness. However, this update does NOT apply to the Patriot America plan which still does NOT include coverage for COVID-19.
Customers who would like to renew or extend their existing Patriot International, Patriot Platinum International, or Visitors Care plans set to expire on or after May 5th and wish to receive the new COVID-19 coverage will need to let their plan expire and then reapply for a new plan to qualify for this update. Extending or renewing their existing plan will not provide the benefits mentioned above.
In conjunction with these plan changes, the plan administrator has modified the rates to accommodate these new or updated benefits. The respective plan Brochures, and policy Certificate of Insurance sample documents have also been updated to reflect the below detailed changes. Effective May 5, 2021, International Medical Group (IMG) will make updates to our Patriot Travel Series and Visitors Care short-term travel medical plans for new business.
We are pleased to announce that Patriot International, Patriot Platinum International, and Visitors Care plans will undergo a modification to the Pandemic and Epidemic language to include coverage for COVID-19. Patriot America Plus and Patriot Platinum America plans already include coverage for COVID-19.
Customers who would like to renew or extend their existing Patriot International, Patriot Platinum International, or Visitors Care plans set to expire on or after May 5th and wish to receive the new COVID-19 coverage will need to let their plan expire and then reapply for a new plan. Additionally, the following updates will be made to Patriot Travel Series plans, effective May 5th:
- Modification of Prescription Drug and Medication Language and Definitions
- Removal of “Standard” mail fulfillment option
- Increased cost for “Express” mail fulfillment option from $20 to $50
- Policy maximum options for insureds age 65-69 years old will be reduced to only $50,000 or $100,000 on Patriot International plans and $2,000,000 on Patriot Platinum International plans
